Chris DENT

"Chris Dent is a London based Illustrator. His work takes a fresh and unique approach on all forms of architecture, generally focusing on the modern metropolis.
The intricate pen work explores the energy of urban street culture through densely informative drawings of cityscapes/environments."

When i got told about the work of Chris Dent i had a look through his online portfolio and really liked his way of working. I have thought about including simple line drawings of buildings in my work but so far i have been unsuccessful and i think that i am going to move away from this idea.

Roderick MILLS

What caught my attention about Roderick Mills was his simple black line drawings. The effect of having just black line on a white background is something that i really like. Then with one of his pieces he adds a touch of colour which gives the image an extra dimension.

Lucinda ROGERS

Lucinda Rogers way drawing is one that really appeals to me. The simplicity of the lines with just a wash of colour in the background makes the image stand out against the page The thickness of the lines and how she combines them is a very important factor in producing the image. Her work definitely inspires me to go out and draw.

Jonny HANNAH

Whilst i was researching through agencies online i came across the work of Jonny Hannah. As i am focussing on a music inspired brief i immediately took note of Hannah. The brief was to design a new flyer for a live music night so i focussed upon the colours which Hannah worked with to get a feel of setting the scene.

Paulo LIM

When i first came across this work by Paulo Lim, i immediately though it was amazing. This work was used as the album cover for a band called Corporate Lo-Fi. The simple technique of cutting out coloured paper combined with the intricate detail of shadowing creates such a vibrant image. I will take this way of working to produce some of my own pieces of work.
