festival - final designs

These are the final designs for the billboard posters of each festival. I am quite pleased with the overall result and think that they work well as a set together too. Adding in the background gives the imagery another dimension and just finishes it off, rather than just having a white back drop.

The colours that i have chosen for each poster are there to represent what the festival's are all about and the vibe that they have. Bestival has a summery and friendly feel with a blue sky and green grass, Globalgathering has more of a drug induced rave vibe with purple grass and a yellow sky, while Download is a lot darker than both of them, to represent the gothic state.

FINAL CRIT

For my final crit today this this is some of the work that i showed. I had put the billboards and adshels in context in order to give the rest of the group a clearer understanding of what i am trying to achieve. I am quite pleased with the way that i am heading with this work and now i just need to do some minor adjustments and maybe take a few more photos.

The feedback that i got back from the group was fairly positive and they seemed to like the work. They did say that maybe the photos aren't as 3D as they could be, so i will have to look in to this.

FESTIVAL BREIF

These are some of the shots that i took in the photography studio and then worked back into them in photoshop. I like the effect that they are giving but i think that they still need some work and i may have to plan in some time to take more photographs.

FESTIVAL BRIEF

This brief is set to promote music festivals. By means of setting up a scene with 3D cut outs, the images are there to sum up what each festival is about. These are some of the first ones that i have photographed to get a feel of what they will hopefully look like. The next stage in the development of this brief is to set up each in a studio with lighting, this will hopefully give each the quality that i am after. I have booked out the photography studio for the 18th May, and by taking initial layout ideas with me i should be able to get some really good shots.
With the photographs i intend to digitally print them to produce a set of posters which will be able to be displayed.

Tutorial with Joe.

The follow up to the previous tutorial with Joe has enabled me to focus my ideas on the music theme. Taking the brief for 360 Club, i will use the logo and other information about the night and hopefully do a good job in answering the brief. Joe has said that it would be a good idea to add more detail which i have agreed to, as the work at the minute is looking a bit dull. He also said to take the photos into photoshop and posterize them into two colours.

360 Brief...

In response to the 360 Club brief, these were a couple of flyer designs that i came up with. Having focussed upon the silhouettes of musicians by means of paper cut outs, i applied the idea to produce the flyer. The flyers measure 10x15 cm, and to save on production costs they are only printed on one side. I'm not entirely overjoyed with these designs and i do feel that they could be improved upon but the idea was that this was a quick turnaround to the get a design down on paper.

Paper Silhouettes- Music Brief

Simplifying the images down to just their outline, i then cut out the shapes in coloured paper and collaged them together. The idea is to then develop the images to produce a flyer to promote live music in leeds. At the minute i don't feel as though they are doing what i intend them to do. The images look too flat and there is no real dynamic edge to the imagery, and so i will have to continue to experiment with the idea, and carefully consider the final outcome.

Tutorial with Joe.

After the talk with Joe Gilmore, and having showed Joe the initial paper cut outs of people he decided it best to try and come up with a brief to focus the idea upon. The idea was to produce a quick brief to produce a flyer and/or a poster designs to promote independent music in Leeds. As my housemate studies down at the music collage i thought it best to take the influence from him and look at jazz music.
