SERIAL CUT

Having been told about this book, Tactile-high touch visuals, and after having a good look through it, i came across the work by Serial Cut Studio. They focus mainly on Art Direction and have a team who specializes in photography, design, motion-graphics and 3D designs.
When i saw this piece of work i immediately thought that it would be a good start to the next stage in the development of my work. With the idea of 3D cutouts i am going to produce a series of scenes looking at different music festivals throughout the United Kingdom.

"Tactile shows how graphic design is moving into three-dimensional objects and products. The innovative examples documented in the book demonstrate how designers are developing and implementing their ideas spatially from the very outset of a project. Tactile proves that spatial innovation in graphic design is not limited to personal work or artistic endeavours, but is being sought out more and more often by commercial clients, for example, in store design."

Tutorial with Joe.

The follow up to the previous tutorial with Joe has enabled me to focus my ideas on the music theme. Taking the brief for 360 Club, i will use the logo and other information about the night and hopefully do a good job in answering the brief. Joe has said that it would be a good idea to add more detail which i have agreed to, as the work at the minute is looking a bit dull. He also said to take the photos into photoshop and posterize them into two colours.

360 Brief...

In response to the 360 Club brief, these were a couple of flyer designs that i came up with. Having focussed upon the silhouettes of musicians by means of paper cut outs, i applied the idea to produce the flyer. The flyers measure 10x15 cm, and to save on production costs they are only printed on one side. I'm not entirely overjoyed with these designs and i do feel that they could be improved upon but the idea was that this was a quick turnaround to the get a design down on paper.

Paper Silhouettes- Music Brief

Simplifying the images down to just their outline, i then cut out the shapes in coloured paper and collaged them together. The idea is to then develop the images to produce a flyer to promote live music in leeds. At the minute i don't feel as though they are doing what i intend them to do. The images look too flat and there is no real dynamic edge to the imagery, and so i will have to continue to experiment with the idea, and carefully consider the final outcome.
